Thanks to funding from the NIH P50 Fragile X Center Award, we are pleased to announce that our study of women with the FMR1 premutation has been extended for an additional three years, and we are also recruiting new participants.
We are currently seeking participants from the following groups:
- Women with the FMR1 premutation (55–200 CGG repeats) who meet any of the following criteria:
- 35–44 years of age
- 70–80 years of age
- From racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in research, including Black and Hispanic women
- Have or may be experiencing FXTAS
- Live locally (e.g., South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia)
- Women without a fragile X–associated condition, aged 30–80 years, who:
- Have biological, typically developing children
- Live locally in the Columbia, SC area
What does participation involve?
Participants will complete one to two days of in-person assessments focused on language, cognitive, and motor skills.
Compensation:
Participants will receive up to $200 in compensation and reimbursement of travel expenses.
